Glacier Landings

Walk on a glacier, throw a snowball and take the best Alaska photos ever!

As you lift-off from the Knik River Lodge Heli-base, the massive Knik Glacier immediately pops into view. Take in vistas of the Chugach Range and it’s several glaciers as we make our way to giant sheet of ice. Look down on the glacially-fed Lake George with its massive icebergs rolling over in the glacial water. After a 15-minute flight, land on the Knik Glacier and enjoy approximately 30-minutes exploring the azure blue melt pools and bizarre ice formations with your pilot guide. Take in the sights of Mount Marcus Baker, the highest peak in the Chugach Range as you stand on one of the largest glaciers in South Central Alaska, at over 25 miles long and more than 5 miles wide! After exploring the glacier, board the helicopter for the 15-minute flight back to the Knik River Lodge Heli-base. On the return trip, keep an eye open for moose and other wildlife in the river valley. Unlike most glaciated areas the Chugach Mountains offer abundant wildlife like moose, Dall sheep and black bears. To really get the most out of this adventure, book the 75-minute tour for additional flight time to explore more of the glacial valley.
